Randal Silversword is from a powerful merchant family in Sembia. He himself has always sought more power to give himself leverage over his competition, both from the other merchants and from his own relatives. He saw Cyric as the way to obtain this power. To prove his devotion he underwent for himself the "Ritual of Honest Pain". During the ritual, he was given a vision to seek out and conspire with a young Cyric Cleric named Crytal Chernov in the Dalelands.
