Pearl of the Moon
(wondrous item, uncommon, requires attunement by spellcaster)

Last Updated: October 24, 2023
Campaign: The Lost Mine

This translucent pearl is filled with a night sky full of stars.

The "Pearl of the Moon" is a unique pearl of power.

While this pearl is on your person, you can use an action to speak its command word and regain one expended spell slot.
If the expended slot was of 4th level or higher, the new slot is 3rd level.
Once you use the pearl, it can't be used again until the next dawn.

The "Pearl of the Moon" was exquisitely crafted from the essence of fey magic and is unbreakable.

  • Like other objects, it is immune to poison and psychic damage.
  • Its unbreakable property also makes it immune to physical damage (bludgeoning, piercing, slashing) as an object.
  • The only way to physically damage the "Pearl of the Moon" is to damage it while it is in the Shadowfell, also known as the Plane of Shadow.

The "Pearl of the Moon" glows with a pale radiance in moonlight, shedding dim light in a 5-foot radius.

While in possession of the "Pearl of the Moon", the bearer feels fortunate and optimistic about what the future holds. Butterflies often frolic in the item's presence.

    History:

  • Linene Graywind, the master of the Phandalin Lionshields outpost, was able to procur the "Pearl of the Moon" to give to Pearl to repay the store credit she owed Pearl.
  • "Instantly made me think of ya, Hun, and just had to get it for ya"

    Design Notes:

    Its value is 150 gp.
    - 100 gp for the pearl of power (uncommon item).
    - 50 gp for unbreakable (common/minor property)

Inspired by the tables in the DMG on page 142-143 to make this magic item unique. Basically, they provide ideas for the creator, history, minor property and quirk.
    - creator: Fey
    - history: n/a
    - minor property: Unbreakable
    - quirk: Blissful.
