This chain shirt is made with the finest elven craftmanship and only weighs 10 lbs. No sound can be heard from its chain links as they move about.

"Silence in Shadows" is an elven made magic Chain Shirt which provides a +1 bonus to AC.
While wearing it, you can apply your full Dexterity modifier (instead of a maximum of +2) when determining your Armor Class (so total AC = 14 + Dex modifier).
You are considered proficient with this armor even if you lack Proficiency with Medium armor.

While you wear "Silence in Shadows", your steps make no sound, regardless of the surface you are moving across.
You also have advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks that rely on moving silently.

History:

  • "Silence in Shadows" was created and finished by an elf wizard visiting the Forge of Spells,
  • The elf wizard was slain in the orc attack on Wave Echo Cave, before she could retrieve "Silence in Shadows" and escape.
  • Her skeletal body and Wand of Magic Missiles are in the dark pool, several orc arrows are still lodged in her ribcage.
  • "Silence in Shadows" was lost and forgotten about after the orc attack on Wave Echo Cave.

    Its value is 850 gp.
    = 50 gp for the chain shirt
    = +500 gp to make it Armor +1 (rare ability)
    = +100 gp Proficient with medium armor while worn (uncommon ability)
    = +100 gp can apply full Dexterity modifier to medium armor (uncommon ability)
    = +100 gp for the Elven boots ability (uncommon ability)
