Elven Glamerweave
(armor, rare)

Last Updated: April 9, 2023
Campaign: The Lost Mine

This chain shirt is made with the finest elven craftmanship and only weighs 10 lbs. Illusionary symbols of nature, such as leaves, vines, and stars shimmer across its surface.

"Elven Glamerweave" is essentially a suit of Glamoured Elven Chain with Glamerweave.
The Chain Shirt provides a +1 bonus to AC, for a total of AC 14 + Dex modifier (max 2).
You are considered proficient with this armor even if you lack Proficiency with Medium armor.

You can also use a bonus Action to speak the armor's Command word and cause the armor to assume the Appearance of a normal set of clothing or some other kind of armor.
You decide what it looks like, including color, style, and accessories, but the armor retains its normal bulk and weight.
The illusory appearance lasts until you use this property again or remove the armor.

The illusionary magic enchanting the chain links of this armor can create a glamerweave effect to project simple harmless illusions within the wearer's space to enhance their performance or persuasion skills.
When you make a Charisma (Performance) or Charisma (Persuasion) check while wearing the uncommon version of glamerweave, you can roll a d4 and add the number rolled to the check.
Once you use this property, it can't be used again until the next dawn.

"Elven Glamerweave" will sometimes emit fragments of ancient elvish songs to warn its bearer (or DM plot hook/tool to send hints/clues to player).
This grants a +2 bonus to initiative if the bearer isn't incapacitated.
Sometimes the warnings come too late, and the song fragment is heard after the armor has been hit.

While in possession of the item, the bearer feels fortunate and optimistic about what the future holds.
Illusionary butterflies and other harmless creatures appear at random to frolic around the wearer.

History:

  • Laeral Silverhand, a great hero, is rumored to have worn this type of armor back when she was in the Harpers.
  • Anyone who's familiar with this item's history will expect great deeds from Obsidiana Moonsong.

    Design Notes:

    Its value is 800 gp.
    - 50 gp for the chain shirt
    - 500 gp to make it Armor +1 (rare ability)
    - 100 gp for the added glamoured property (figuring uncommon portion that is added to the rare glamoured studded leather)
