  • Aura: Strong; (DC 21) abjuration

This suit of heavy plate armor is made from adamantine and glistens with a blue-black sheen, as if it were covered in oily liquid sapphire. A faint, sunset-colored light dances on top of this dark ocean, highlighting the stark edges of its dwarven craftmanship. An incredibly durable dull grayish-brown and light beige diamond adorns its breastplate.

The Colossus Heavy Plate is a Dwarvencraft Adamantine Blueshine Twilight Heavy Plate +1.

Forged for the strongest of warriors, heavy plate armor is simply a heavily reinforced suit of full plate armor (see Underdark, p66 or Races of Stone, p158).

The Colossus Heavy Plate is made from adamantine (hardness 20) which provides a base DR 3/-. It automatically comes with a pair of adamantine gauntlets, which are included in the price and weight of the armor (see Gauntlets of the Colossus).

It has been enchanted with a +1 enhancement bonus to its armor AC.

The twilight property reduces the chance of arcane failure by 10%, so instead of 40% for heavy plate, it is only 30%.

The blueshine property makes the armor immune to acid damage and rusting effects. In addition, the wearer gains +2 competence bonus to hide skill.

As a dwarvencraft armor (see Races of Stone, p159), it is stronger and harder than a comparable masterwork item. A dwarvencraft item’s hardness increases by 2, and it gains an additional 10 hit points. In addition, it gains a +2 bonus on all saving throws. All of these effects stack with the similar bonuses for magic items if the dwarvencraft item is made magical. The Colossus Heavy Plate, thus, has total hardness = 20+2+2 = 24 and total hit points = 9*5+10+10 = 65.

The Colossus Heavy Plate currently has a Lesser Iron Ward Diamond attached to it. At night time, the Lesser Iron Ward Diamond is replaced with a Restful Crystal, so the user can sleep in it while on the road.

  • Caster Level: 7th
  • Aura: Faint; (DC 17) evocation

A Lesser Iron Ward Diamond grants damage reduction 3/— until it has prevented a total of 30 points of damage. This damage reduction stacks with similar damage reduction granted by any other source. A Lesser Iron Ward Diamond functions only when attached to medium or heavy armor enchanted with at least a +1 bonus to AC. Attaching or removing the Lesser Iron Ward Diamond from a suit of armor is a move action that does not provoke attacks of opportunity.

  • Price: 500 gp
  • Body Slot: - (armor crystal)

Sleeping in armor that has a Restful Crystal attached to it does not make you fatigued. A Restful Crystal functions only when attached to any suit of armor of at least masterwork quality. Attaching or removing the Lesser Iron Ward Diamond from a suit of armor is a move action that does not provoke attacks of opportunity.

    History

  • The dwarven mastersmith Ghelryn "Goldhand" Foehammer operates Foehammer's Forge in the town of Triboar, north of Waterdeep.
  • Ghelryn "Goldhand" Foehammer has been seeking a priceless dwarven artifact called the "Tome of Moradin". He has offered to forge one piece of armor or weapon at half-price or arrange for a non-armor/weapon and any additional enchantments at 25% off to anyone or group who brings him the "Tome of Moradin".
  • Ska'arr and the rest of the Shadow Stalkers found the "Tome of Moradin" in some ruins deep in the Kryptarden Forest and returned it to Ghelryn "Goldhand" Foehammer.
  • True to his word, Ghelryn "Goldhand" Foehammer, forged items of power for each of the Shadow Stalkers. For Ska'arr, he made a suit of dwarvencraft adamantine heavy plate armor, then enchanted it with blueshine to protect the armor further, and with twilight to make it easier for Ska'arr, a warrior-mage, to cast spells while armored.
  • Ska'arr enhances the Colossus Heavy Plate with a Lesser Iron Ward Diamond (total DR = 6), and uses a Restful Crystal so he can sleep comfortably in his armor while out on adventures.
