    This ebony shortsword is made from several fangs and talons of a small black dragon, expertly crafted to fit with one another to form a single deadly blade. A thin green film fills the interlocking cracks, releasing a hint of acid scent into the air. A transparent black crystal with a faint, sickly glow is attached to the base of its pommel.

    Tormod's Terror is a black-dragonfang short sword (Draconomicon: page 117).

    Its masterwork quality provides a base +1 to hit in combat.

    The dragon fang properties allow it to do +1 point of acid damage on a successful strike. This acid damage is treated as a non-magical extraordinary feature and it does not stack with any other type of acid damage that may also be dealt by this weapon.

    Skill checks can provide the following information:

  • Roll against Know Arcana or Know nature to determine that the blade is made from a black dragon talon (DC 20).

    A Least Crystal of Life Drinking bestows a small amount of life energy upon you each time you damage a living creature with the weapon to which the crystal is attached. Dealing non-lethal damage with the weapon doesn’t activate the crystal’s effect. Each time you deal damage to a living creature with the weapon to which this crystal is attached, you heal 1 point of damage. When the crystal has healed a total of 10 points of damage, it becomes inert until the following day.

    The Least Crystal of Life Drinking can be attached to any weapon of at least masterwork quality. Attaching or removing the crystal of life drinking from a weapon is a move action that does not provoke attacks of opportunity.

    History:

  • Tormod, a Kalashtar Soulknife, created a black-dragonfang short sword from parts harvested from a small black dragon he helped slay while exterminating a bugbear pack from a cave complex.
  • Tormod was soon seduced by servants of Malcanthet, the Succubus Queen.
  • Tragically, Tormod was torn apart by an Annis Hag while on a rescue mission of one of those servants, who had been taken by the Hags and their minions.
  • To honor her fallen comrade and the terror he inflicted on his opponents, Lady Oriana took possession of the black-dragonfang short sword and gave it the name Tormod's Terror (or did she name it that as a reminder of the terror Tormod must have felt at the moment of his death as he was helplessly rended limb from limb by one the Hags - she's not quite sure herself which reason it was, maybe both).
