The entire length of this rapier's silvery blade has a deep purple luster and is etched with stylized lightning bolts. A dwarven rune is stamped onto the blade's surface.

Jolt is a Shocking Burst Darksteel Rapier +2.

It has been enchanted with magic to provide a +2 enhancement bonus to hit and damage.

As a weapon forged from darksteel (see Magic of Faerun, p178), it inflicts 1 point of extra electricity damage when it hits. This is cumulative with the shock property, so total extra electrical damage done on a hit is 1d6+1. Darksteel weighs the same as steel, has hardness 10 and 30 hp per inch of thickness.

Upon command, a shocking burst weapon is sheathed in crackling electricity. The electricity does not harm the wielder. The effect remains until another command is given. A shocking burst weapon deals an extra 1d6 points (1d6+1 with darksteel) of electricity damage on a successful hit. Upon striking a successful critical hit, a shocking burst weapon explodes with electricity which deals an additional extra 1d10 points of electricity damage. Even if the shock ability is not active, the weapon still deals its extra electricity damage on a successful critical hit.

    History:

  • Jolt was forged by Thorik, a Master Smith amongst the Dwarves of Glen in Mistledale. Thorik recently discovered some ancient dwarven texts that detailed the secret to making darksteel by tempering meteoric iron with a variety of special oils.
  • Pervos Ubler, one of the Miller's sons of Ashabenford in Mistledale, stole Jolt from Thorik and the Dwarves of Glen.
  • Pervos Ubler used Jolt to stab Jhaer Brightsong in the back and through the heart thereby binding his soul to Shar during the Night of Dark Tremors, when unholy quakes devestated the town of Ashabenford in Mistledale. Jhaer Brightsong was left for dead, but her love for Neon Wilde gave her soul the strength to hold onto life.
  • Pervos Ubler and his brother Heldo were sent by Shar to stop Gideon Fireforged and the Seekers of Faerun from claiming Kossuth's blessing at the Pillars of Fire.
  • The Seekers slew the two brothers, and Swan Battlestar claimed Jolt as her own.
