This rapier is incredibly sharp and light. A dwarven rune is stamped onto the blade's silvery surface. The guard and pommel each resemble a stylized heart. One side of the guard bears the mark of the Red wizards, while the word "Scardale" is inscribed on the other side.

Heartseeker is a Dwarven Crafted Mithral Keen Human Bane Rapier +1 .

It has been enchanted with magic to provide a +1 enhancement bonus to hit and damage.

Against humans, the bane property gives Heartseeker a +3 enhancement bonus to hit instead, and does an additional +2d6+3 damage.

As a keen weapon, it threatens a critical hit on 15-20/x2.

As a mithral weapon, it only weighs 1 lb, and is able to overcome DR as though it were silver.

As a dwarvencraft weapon (see Races of Stone, p159), it is stronger and harder than a comparable masterwork item. A dwarvencraft item’s hardness increases by 2, and it gains an additional 10 hit points. In addition, it gains a +2 bonus on all saving throws. All of these effects stack with the similar bonuses for magic items if the dwarvencraft item is made magical. So Heartseeker has hardness 19 and 25 hit points.

    History

  • Chathi Chathendum the Red Wizard commissioned Thorik, a Master Smith amongst the Dwarves of Glen in Mistledale, to craft the mithral rapier.
  • Heartseeker bears the mark of the Red Wizards and the Scardale enclave indicating who enchanted it and where it was made.
  • Jandar Hahpet, a Rashemi manhunter who serves Chathi Chathendum the Red Wizard, was given "Heartseeker" as a reward for loyal service.
  • Heartseeker's bane property complements Jandar's ability to hunt down his favoured enemy.
