An orcish blade, it looks old, with rust spots all over. It has a smooth black boned hilt with a 'n' shaped cross guard. The blade is dull grey, which tapers but then widens near the point, one edge is razor sharp, the other edge is serrated, angled such that it would cause ragged tears in flesh as it was withdrawn. Attached to its pommel is a perfect crystal sphere that emits a faint white glow.

"Gutripper" is a Cold Iron Serrated Short Sword +1.

As a serrated weapon (AEG Mercenaries, p92), Gutripper has its critical hit threat range increased by +1. So it threatens a critical hit on an 18-20. Note that this effect doesn’t stack with any other effect that expands the threat range of a weapon (such as the keen edge spell, the Keen magical propery or the Improved Critical feat). Instead use the best threat range that is applicable. To determine the cost, add the cost for the weapon being masterwork (+300 gp) and add the cost for it being serrated (+300 gp), then multiply the total by two, so for Gutripper, the added cost for being a masterwork serrated weapon is 1,200 gp total.

As a masterwork cold iron weapon, it underwent special rituals to allow magical enhancements to successfully bond with the cold iron (+2,000 gp).

It has been enchanted with magic to provide a +1 enhancement bonus to hit and damage.

It currently has a Lesser Fiendslayer Crystal attached to its pommel.

A Lesser Fiendslayer deals an extra 1d6 points of damage to evil outsiders. The weapon is treated as good-aligned for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction.

Any evil creature grasping a weapon with a fiendslayer crystal gains one negative level, which remains as long as it holds the weapon and disappears when the weapon is no longer wielded. This negative level never results in actual level loss, but it cannot be overcome in any way (including restoration spells ) while the weapon is wielded.

The Lesser Fiendslayer Crystal can be attached to any weapon with at least a +1 magic enhancement bonus. Attaching or removing the Lesser Fiendslayer Crystal from a weapon is a move action that does not provoke attacks of opportunity.

    History:

  • Gutripper was found by Swan Battlestar, lying forgotten in the bottom of a dire rat's nest, in the lair of Bareris, a Red Wizard and former apprentice to Dracandros, who recently went rogue and insane after being exposed to the Shadow Weave.
  • Using some of her share from the hoard of Enthranos, the blue dragon guarding the Pillar of Fire, Swan Battlestar had Gutripper enchanted to enhance its magical prowess in combat. She also added a fiendslayer crystal to better rip the flesh of evil outsiders.
