This broad black leather belt is studded with three moonstones and a white healing symbol engraved on the buckle. The buckle feels a little stiff.

"The Helping Hand" is a healing belt (see Magic Items Compendium, page 110) that has been cursed. Once put on, the cursed healing belt cannot be willingly removed by the wearer. A remove curse will allow the user to remove the healing belt, but the curse remains and will prevent the next wearer from willingly removing the belt.

As a healing belt, it provides a +2 competence bonus on Heal checks. This is a continuous effect and requires no activation.

In addition, the belt has 3 charges, which are renewed each day at dawn. Spending 1 or more charges allows you to channel positive energy and heal damage with a touch. (You can also use this ability to harm undead, dealing them an equivalent amount of damage instead.) The command word to activate any of the charges is "Lucky Bastards".

  • 1 charge: Heals 2d8 points of damage.
  • 2 charges: Heals 3d8 points of damage.
  • 3 charges: Heals 4d8 points of damage.

    History:

  • "The Helping Hand" was once in the possession of one Jamin Clover Arborsho, a moon elf from Waterdeep. Jamin challenged Pelias Hadrathus and the other Shadow Stalkers to solve a puzzle with "The Helping Hand" as the prize.
  • After solving the puzzle, Raven Battlestar put on "The Helping Hand" in good faith, only to later discover that it was cursed and that she could not remove it. Normally, this could be a good thing with a Healing Belt. Unless of course you find something better later on, like that coveted Monk's Belt you have been wanting to get ...
  • Fortunately, Raven Battlestar was able to remove the curse and the Healing Belt. Her companion Ska'arr decided that the benefits outweighed the curse, so he put on "The Helping Hand"...
