Spell failure chances for shields made from mithral are decreased by 10%, maximum Dexterity bonus is increased by 2, and armor check penalties are lessened by 3 (to a minimum of 0). So arcane spell failure = 0%, AC check penalty = 0, and weight = 3 lbs.

    The Silversword Shield is part of the Silversword Regalia magic item set and bears the "Silversword" family crest, a minor noble and merchant family in Sembia.

    History:

  • Randal Silversword, a bardic devotee of Cyric and the disgraced former heir to the Silversword family fortune, stole the Silversword Regalia, a family heirloom worn by the head of the family as their badge of power.
  • The Silversword family have offered an 8,000 gp reward for the return of the Silversword Regalia (3,000 gp for the Silversword, 1,000 gp for the Silversword Circlet of Charisma, 2,000 gp for the Silversword Shield and 2,000 gp for the Silversword Signet Ring). Wearing the Silversword Regalia without the family's permission will result in the afore mentioned bounties being placed on the items worn by the wearer.
  • Randal Silversword is rumored to be in the Dalelands and helping the followers of Cyric.
