    This baroque-styled translucent breastplate possesses a faint, sunset-colored sheen.

    The Githyanki Breastplate of Battle is a Githcraft Twilight Mithral Breastplate +1.

    As an item made from mithral, it weighs half as much as the same item made from other metals. Even though breastplate is normally medium armor, it is treated as light. Spell failure chances for armors made from mithral are decreased by 10%, maximum Dexterity bonus is increased by 2, and armor check penalties are lessened by 3 (to a minimum of 0).
    Base Cost = 4,200 gp.

    The arcane spell failure chance of githcraft armor is reduced by 5% (minimum 0%). The wearer of githcraft armor gains a +1 bonus on Concentration checks (does not stack if also worn with a githcraft shield).
    Cost = +600 gp

    It has been enchanted with a +1 enhancement bonus to its armor AC.
    Cost = +1 bonus = +1,000 gp.

    A suit of twilight armor looks translucent and semi-incorporeal when donned, reducing the chance of arcane spell failure by 10%.
    Cost = +1 bonus (total = +2) = +3,000 gp.

    Armor Stats: AC = +6, max dex = +5, AC check = -1, spell failure = 0%, MV = 30 ft, wt = 15 lbs, light armor, hardness = 15+2 = 17, hp = 25+10 = 35.

    History:

  • Known throughout the planes as battle-crazed zealots, githyanki revere weapons and armor more highly than almost any other possession, and their craftmasters focus exclusively on items of warfare.
  • Because the githyanki jealously guard the secrets of creating githcraft armor and weaponry, they remain the only creatures capable of crafting them.
  • Since the Githyanki do not sell their items to non-gith, a Githyanki Breastplate of Battle available for sale was most likely looted at some point in its history from a Githyanki warrior.
  • Any Githyanki that sees a non-gith wearing a Githyanki Breastplate of Battle will have an automatic "hostile" reaction toward such a creature and will attack violently to recover the looted item.
  • Many creatures, however, are more than willing to risk Githyanki wrath for the benefits offered by a gith-craft item. Especially arcance casters that wish to wear armor freely.
